A+ is a certification
program for PC technicians established for uniformity
and consistency in the IT industry. It is considered to
be a "launch point" for one's future in the
computer hardware business, in many varied fields. Certification
as an A+ service technician gives students planning to
continue to Network
Engineering certifications the concepts of single-computer
operations that translate directly to multi-computer operations
in networks.
The
A+ certification program is administered by an industry
consortium called "compTIA", composed of some
of the most recognizable names in computing today, including
hardware and software manufacturers, distributors, retailers,
resellers, training, service, telecommunications and Internet
companies. Certification as an A+ service technician assures
employers and customers of competency of the individual's
knowledge and skills to troubleshoot, repair and optimize
desktop and portable computers as well as common peripheral
devices.
As
befits an entry-lever certification, you need not be a
computer whiz to get started. Executive 2000's Fundamentals
Classes are designed to give the everyday application
user enough background and introduction to succeed in
the A+ Hardware Certification
class. In the Fundamentals classes, you will receive a
solid basis in micro-computing theory, the functions and
uses of the DOS operating system and exposure to using
Windows 95 and Windows 98 from the technician's viewpoint.
You will also be exposed to the strategic principles of
good business practices for the computer professional.
Executive
2000's A+ Computer Hardware training will challenge our
students to assimilate new concepts, exercise hands-on
troubleshooting an repair skills and research cutting
edge technologies via the Internet and other resources.
This instills in each student the tools and knowledge
to continue to learn. Our goal is to graduate an IT Professional
competent in real world skill, who also passes the certification
exam. Our program is designed to have the student complete
the classroom portion of preparing for the examinations
in three weeks (if Fundamentals classes are taken) or
two weeks if the student has sufficient computing background
that Fundamental classes are not necessary.
Following
the class, Executive 2000 continues to support our students
by offering internship sessions for hands-on deployment
of the skills learned in the certification classes. Examination
review sessions are offered for each class, approximately
two weeks after the class concludes. In addition, student
have access to workstations loaded with computer-based
training modules and computerized practice examinations,
as well as high speed access to the Internet. Students
availing themselves of all these resources typically pass
their certification examinations one month after completing
the class. Our first-time pass rate averages from 85-97%.
